The Future of Retail – An Interview with Nargiza from Rebecca Minkoff

I had the great chance to chat with the associate e-commerce manager Nargiza Dakmak from the tech-forward fashion brand Rebecca Minkoff. She also studied at LIM College and graduated with her MBA in Fashion Management. Fascinated by the fashion industry, she started her internship at Rebecca Minkoff – and stayed. I talked with her about their advanced mirror technology in stores and how she sees retail in the future.  What was the main Idea behind your Mirror Technology? How was the Development Process like? When you want to open a Flagship store, your main goal is to provide a different…

They shared their experiences with digital marketing strategies, the challenges of selling luxury fashion online and where they think technology in fashion is heading.  What kind of marketing channels do you think work best in our modern time? Nicole – I think it is important to have a presence on all marketing channels as (potential) customers seek information about a product or your brand across such various…

This is no real campaign of Birkenstock or Soles4Souls and just a theoretical concept for our class at LIM College. A digital Tailoring Service

When you think about bespoke tailoring you probably think about luxury fabrics, shoulder pads and hand sewn buttons. This craftwork is one of the oldest on earth and is still being executed by custom tailors around the world. They will take their time to take your measurements and to go through their available fabrics they have at the moment to find the perfect option for your taste (of course there are different types of tailors, but lets just talk about luxury custom tailors for a second). They will help you to decide on a color and pattern and will pick a lining for you….

Assisting Ei8ht Dreams @Coterie

Last week I had the chance to get to know the new and emerging label Ei8ht Dreams a little better. To work with the founders, designers and sales team at the New York fashion fair Coterie and present their label to potential buyers and department or retail stores has been a great experience for me. The Los Angeles based jeans driven label is one of my favorite young emerging labels so far! The designer Stephanie did an awesome job collecting inspiration and transforming it into her current fashion line. By adding many small details and additional embroidery, distressing or metallic printing she makes every piece special….

Interview with Copper Artist Gabi from Kupferarbeiten Ph. Basche

These awesome artists create wonderful copper sculptures every day and week and work in their work hours as much they celebrate artistic inspiration in free time. The artists from ‘Kupferarbeiten Ph. Basche‘ had been a huge inspiration for my bachelors collection {“Hello World”}. From left to right: Moni, Tom and GabiGabi gave me some of her precious time to do this inspirational interview with me. I was also able to give you some special insights in her copper studio in the north of Munich, Germany. At what age did you find that passion for manual work? Manual work always reminds me of my school days. I’ve never been very…

Next16 – {“Hello World”} Graduate Fashion Show

My Bachelor Collection {“Hello World”} was shown at the Graduate Fashion Show NEXT16 in Munich. The runway show was a great spectacle for all my fellow students and me. All our graduate collections were shown to a broad community of fashion enthusiasts and journalists. It was a great honor and pleasure for all of us and a huge release after all the work. I loved the atmosphere in the hall. The show took place at the Säulenhalle München. Light effects made the colors and fabrics stick out and put our collections in great limelight. The rough reverberating hall was the best location for a show like…

{“Hello World”} – Image Clip

An Image Clip for {“Hello World”} was a great tool to visually explain my interpretation and thoughts further. There were a lot of ideas that would work better in moving images. To visualize a technological topic like this even more, I installed projectors with small electronic clips. Different headlights were added as well, but this time only in white light color. Artificial fog was used to make the light effects more visible and to build a visual bridge between electronic lights and the cooling system of computers. It should be a frosty, clean image clip that emphasizes the materials and 3D elements worn in my collection. You can find the image shooting…
